Habitat Creation, Restoration and Management

Creating and managing habitats, supported by 60 years of experience

Across Somerset Wildlife Trust’s expansive nature reserves and through SWTC’s project experience, we have created, managed and enhanced many habitat types. We have coppiced woodland to promote flora biodiversity and benefit hazel dormice, enhanced riparian habitat for water voles, cleared bracken and bramble from species rich grassland.

SWTC have provided sensitive pre-construction vegetation clearance works where our trained and licenced ecologists have conducted ecological checks for wildlife as well as removal negating the need for a separate clearance team and watching brief.

Our ecologists are trained to use machinery and techniques specific to land management practices. From the use of brushcutters and chainsaws, plant machinery such as excavators, tractors and flail to tree climbing.
