Wilder Carbon

High-quality conservation projects delivering long-term carbon lock-up and real biodiversity gains

SWTC are one of just a handful of trusted organisations working with Wilder Carbon to develop projects with landowners who want to use their land to lock-up carbon. Wilder Carbon provides a mechanism for landowners to match with UK buyers seeking to reduce their own carbon emissions. Wilder Carbon projects are Carbon+, meaning that they are designed to deliver multiple benefits — locking up carbon, measurably increasing biodiversity and providing ecosystem services. Somerset Wildlife Trust’s first wilding project, Honeygar, is currently one of a number of projects offering live, Soil Association accredited carbon units to the market. You can find out more here.

If you’re interested in exploring whether a Wilder Carbon project could be right for you, our land advice team will be able to provide you with the guidance, surveys, and support you need to start developing your project.
